Baby Alpaca Wool does not stem from young animals, as the name suggests, but from the alpaca’s back. This wool accounts for only 20% of the entire wool of the animal and it is extremely fine and soft.
As there are only about four million alpacas worldwide and since the animals are only sheared every second year this is a very valuable raw material. High in the Andes is the natural living environment of the alpacas. The durable alpaca fibre warms in a light, pleasant manner, more than pure new wool or merino wool.
